      <image:caption>Lex Keklak - Acupuncturist Chinese Medicine is a walking contradiction. Broken down, the pieces, or elements, are very simple. When they are put in motion, everything gets a little more complicated. It’s a little bit like life. Lex delights in helping you examine the pieces of your life to explain why they aren’t moving as smoothly as they could. When coupled with needles, this understanding can elicit powerful changes in your body and your life. It’s been said that if you swing a cat in Asheville, you’ll hit a yoga teacher, acupuncturist, or massage therapist. Lex hails from the north, Philadelphia area specifically, so she doesn’t always understand expressions like ‘swinging a cat’ and she an animal lover, so you can be sure she’d never do it. But she is an acupuncturist AND a yoga teacher.  It was yoga that made her understand that there are ways to feel more at home in one’s skin. After her first bikram yoga class she remembered thinking, “I want to do this everyday for the rest of my life.” It was via yoga that she was introduced to her first acupuncturist and mentor. She helped her unravel a decade of digestive issues and more. She set Lex on a path to healing. Lex went on to study at The Won Institute of Graduate Studies, Daoist Traditions, and to finally graduate from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine. In addition to being licensed to practice in North Carolina, she is certified by the National Certification Commission For Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Other certifications include Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation, Microneedling, and NADA, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association.   Her understanding of the physical body through yoga has inspired an interest in treating injuries and chronic pain with acupuncture, cupping, and gua sha. She furthered her studies with Polestar Pilates and still enjoys learning various forms of exercise and movement. She also holds certifications with ACSM as an Exercise Physiologist, TRX Suspension Training, RYT200 Hatha and Integral Yoga, and as a Post Rehab Breast Cancer Specialist with the Pink Ribbon Program. Mary Beth enjoys helping people discover a healthy lifestyle and happy body! She believes workouts should be fun, educational, and challenging. What sparked your passion for Pilates? I fell in love with Pilates because I believe it's good for everybody! I love how much body awareness it creates helping us to address muscular imbalances and move with ease. It compliments day to day living, hobbies and activities.  What is your favorite hobby outside the studio? I enjoy working in the garden, crocheting, needle felting, yoga and entertaining my cat!       <image:caption>Alice Jane Eacho - Pilates Instructor Alice Jane is a certified Comprehensive Balanced Body Pilates Instructor (2018) under the mentorship of Jennifer Gianni. She is a lifelong mover, dancer and fitness lover, and has studied many different movement modalities over the years.  She witnessed the healing power of Pilates through her own pregnancy, birth and postpartum and became hooked. Pilates also helped her heal injuries from hyper mobility as a dancer. Alice Jane teaches the Pilates method as a manual for how the human body works in motion. She’s passionate about trigger point/ therapeutic fascial release techniques for recovery and pain relief. AJ  is fascinated by the magnificent human body and is honored to support those in all levels of their healing journey. She continues to grow and learn through movement education courses and research. Alice Jane holds a BFA in musical theatre and a minor in music from Stephens College(2006). She has performed in professional musical theatre, film and tv, commercials, voice over, and dance companies.       <image:caption>Eden Hughes - Pilates Instructor Eden is a lover of movement in all forms, and came to Pilates as a means of cross-training for ballet while still in high school. She fell in love with Pilates first as a student, and the infatuation only deepened once she began teaching. Eden is a comprehensively certified Balanced Body instructor, as well as a certified Pregnancy and Postnatal Corrective Exercise Specialist (certified under Sarah Duvall with CES). Her work is also heavily influenced by her studies with the Neuro Studio for Pilates and the Neurosciences, and Tom Myers’ Anatomy Trains curriculum. Eden’s approach to the method goes beyond traditional repertoire, focusing on applying Pilates principles to functional movements that translate directly into everyday life. She prioritizes balanced, whole body movement in her sessions, while also educating clients on body mechanics and helping them form efficient, sustainable habits. Pilates should help you do all of the things you love! When she’s not teaching, you can find her dancing with the Asheville Ballet, hiking with her puppy and husband, or crafting.       <image:caption>Christina Heldreth-Johnson - Kinēsa Infused Pilates Instructor Christina’s teaching approach centers on a variety of somatic modalities, with a special emphasis on Kinēsa, a practice that fosters self-awareness by gently re-educating the nervous system. It shifts the focus from muscular effort to skeletal and structural support, helping participants move with ease. Through slow, intentional sequences, the nervous system learns to sense subtle differences, helping to reduce strain and improve range of motion and overall function. Christina’s movement journey began as a dancer, performing at Walt Disney World as a Principal Dancer/Aerialist and, formerly, as a soloist/corps de ballet for the now South Carolina Ballet of Columbia, SC. Since 2002, she has been a dedicated Pilates instructor, having firsthand experience of how Pilates enhanced her flexibility and strength both professionally and personally.  Upon moving to Asheville in 2021, Christina began a new somatic journey for personal healing and, in 2024, became certified in Kinēsa, developed by Asheville’s Lavinia Plonka, a veteran of the Feldenkrais Method. In addition, Christina holds certifications in Stott Pilates, Physical Mind Institute, Hatha Yoga Level 1, Chi Kung, and Clinical Aromatherapy, and is currently continuing her studies with the Neuro Studio.  Outside of teaching, Christina enjoys exploring the natural beauty of the WNC and surrounding areas with her husband and furry babies. She also delights in hiking, waterfall facials, frolicking on the beach, antiquing, decorating, journaling, reading, creating aromatherapy blends, art doodling, and expressing her flair for fashion—especially anything that sparkles! What is your favorite hobby outside the studio? Outside of the studio I love dancing, camping, and being in Nature. What is your favorite sweet treat? My favorite treat is my Grandmother’s oatmeal cookie recipe. Home sweet Home YUMMINESS!!       <image:caption>Renee Giles - Pilates Instructor Renee is a lover and a believer in the power and wonder of movement. She is a certified STOTT Pilates instructor. She has been a mover her entire life and is glad to be back to the teaching realm after taking a break since COVID. Renee went to Ohio University to study dance, kinesiology, and choreography and that is where she was introduced to Pilates in 1998 after a car accident that left her unable to dance. Pilates brought her strength back and deepened her awareness of the connections within the body and made her fall in love with the work. Following that, she moved to Asheville, NC to continue her studies of the body and anatomy in massage school receiving her massage license, Renee has also been certified as a Dance for Parkinsons instructor as she continues to explore all the ways movement can help bring balance, joy and healing to the body. She is continually fascinated and in awe of the human body and loves to share her passion of movement with awareness of the body, breath and spirit.  What sparked your passion for Pilates? What sparked my passion for Pilates was in college, I was a dance major, after 1 of my car accidents, I couldn't walk and had so much pain, so instead of being in the dance studio, they sent me upstairs to the Pilates studio. It was miraculous to me how much it helped with not only taking away my pain, but brought my awareness so much deeper into the connections of the body and gave me so much more strength and balance than I had ever had before. I dove deep into understanding where the work stemmed from and the history of Pilates and i absolutely fell in love with the work.  What’s your favorite hobby outside the studio: My favorite hobbies outside the studio are walking with friends (especially on a warm sunny day), being poolside and my most favorite thing is watching my kids do what they love. I am a proud Mama. Favorite sweet treat: MMMM... favorite sweet treat is tough. Dark chocolate never fails and then there's coconut anything and lemon anything. I guess it depends on the day :) And a little love from one of her clients: Renee’s energy is absolutely contagious! She brings such joy and lightness to every class, while also grounding it in a solid understanding of how the body moves. I always leave feeling better—physically and emotionally. Her love of the practice lead to her training in London achieving her comprehensive certification from Pilates Foundation UK. Setting up her own studio and working alongside other certified teachers, she specialized in rehabilitation and mature clientele needs, working one to one in a boutique studio setting. Following the graduation of her 3 sons from secondary school to University education, Nancy chose to return to her native American roots, settling on the Big Island of Hawaii where she continued to work with private clients in person on Island and remotely with her English clients via online presence. Nancy has recently moved to Asheville and is looking forward to enjoying all that the beautiful community has to offer. What sparked your passion for Pilates? I fell is love with the movement and mindfulness required to be both a student and teacher of the Pilates method.  I love the concentration, the precision needed, the rhythm of the exercises.  I love working with clients, helping all to listen to their bodies and what is needed to move and keep moving for many years to come. What’s your favorite hobby outside the studio? Spending time with family and friends and my dog, Winston - from walks to lazy Sundays, lovely restaurants to pub quizzes, exploring and enjoying my new home in Asheville!       <image:caption>Riley Ford - Pilates Instructor Riley holds a 600-hour Comprehensive Pilates Certification from Classical Pilates Education and is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher. She also holds a 200-hour Yoga Certification from Ember Hot Yoga. What she loves most about Pilates and yoga is that they require awareness of the present moment. There’s little room for outside distraction, when you are focused on the movement and breath. That kind of focus is a great gift to ourselves. Her teaching style is educational and coaching with plenty of room for laughter, keeping things light and fun.  What sparked your passion for Pilates? Looking to expand my strength and mobility outside of the yoga studio, I fell hard for Pilates. My first sessions were hilariously humbling as I learned where my body’s instabilities were, but I survived to tell the tale! When I committed myself to the Pilates method, I was amazed at how quickly I developed strength and grace. My love for mindful movement is what attracted me to Pilates, and witnessing transformation in my clients is what keeps me motivated in my commitment to the practice. It’s pure movement magic! Favorite hobby outside the studio: I love connecting with nature, on a trail or simply sitting in the sun with a book.  Favorite sweet treat: Peanut butter cups!       <image:caption>Lex Keklak - Acupuncturist Chinese Medicine is a walking contradiction. Broken down, the pieces, or elements, are very simple. When they are put in motion, everything gets a little more complicated. It’s a little bit like life. Lex delights in helping you examine the pieces of your life to explain why they aren’t moving as smoothly as they could. When coupled with needles, this understanding can elicit powerful changes in your body and your life. It’s been said that if you swing a cat in Asheville, you’ll hit a yoga teacher, acupuncturist, or massage therapist. Lex hails from the north, Philadelphia area specifically, so she doesn’t always understand expressions like ‘swinging a cat’ and she an animal lover, so you can be sure she’d never do it. But she is an acupuncturist AND a yoga teacher.  It was yoga that made her understand that there are ways to feel more at home in one’s skin. After her first bikram yoga class she remembered thinking, “I want to do this everyday for the rest of my life.” It was via yoga that she was introduced to her first acupuncturist and mentor. She helped her unravel a decade of digestive issues and more. She set Lex on a path to healing. Lex went on to study at The Won Institute of Graduate Studies, Daoist Traditions, and to finally graduate from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine. In addition to being licensed to practice in North Carolina, she is certified by the National Certification Commission For Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Other certifications include Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation, Microneedling, and NADA, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association.   Her understanding of the physical body through yoga has inspired an interest in treating injuries and chronic pain with acupuncture, cupping, and gua sha. I also enjoy working with a wide range of conditions, including digestive issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction, treating not only the physical manifestations, but the underlying causes.  She likes to say that she didn’t find acupuncture so much as it found her. Lex has been blessed to stumble upon the most amazing healers in the most unlikely of places. The vision of Happy Body was created from a yearning of a welcoming and supportive space for movement, health, and wellness for all bodies. “When we feel comfortable, can find support, and live with awareness in our own physical bodies, we cultivate a greater balance and resilience within ourselves, greater peace in our communities, and ultimately, find our harmony within the world we inhabit.” Jessica is a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist (NC #9944) in Ortho-Bionomy® as well as a certified Pilates instructor and Ortho-Bionomy Instructor. Jessica complements her primary practices of Ortho-Bionomy and Pilates with studies in Polarity Therapy, Gyrokinesis®, Trauma Therapy, Pre-Post Natal Pilates, and Body-Mind Centering®. She believes in the truth and integrity of the body and is passionate about the blending of touch and movement.
