The Practice of Release

When was the last time you intentionally set aside time to practice letting go and releasing? Most of our waking hours we are diligently practicing the engagement with life--the pushing through, the adding on of one more thing, the racing against the clock to get it all done. We are highly skilled in that because we steep ourselves in it every day, and for some of us it can become an addiction. Our physical bodies become patterned to what we feed them, quite literally. If we never feed our bodies space to soften and release, we do not have the capacity to experience those sensations physiologically and they become unavailable to us when we need them in daily life.

At Happy Body, we strive to help you create that space and provide tangible tools to build patterns and practices of release so they are accessible to readily support the active doing of life. This brings more sustainability and ease to the daily stress and busyness of our lives. One opportunity to practice is our on-going weekly Foam Roller Release class on Mondays at 10:30 with Mallory. She teaches practical exercises for finding space and release through the fascial system, which enables the body to increase its range of movement and flexibility.

This month we also have two special workshops focusing on release. One is Paige and Christa's Restorative Yoga and Aromatherapy Mini-Retreat on Sunday, March 17 and the other is Mallory's Foam Roller Release Workshop on Saturday, March 9. Both are great opportunities to practice the art and skill of release. We hope to see you soon!

Foam Roller Release Workshop

From the day to day use of our bodies and the stresses we encounter we need a way to gently re-tune ourselves to release tension, improve circulation and flexibility. 

Join Mallory to learn how to gently release and hydrate your body with different tools and techniques on the foam roller. Leave feeling rejuvenated and empowered to use this simple self care technique at home!

Restorative Yoga + Aromatherapy Mini-Retreat 

with Paige and Christa 

This afternoon mini-retreat—on the cusp of the Spring Equinox—will support you as you slowly release wintertime energy. We’ll explore and nurture those parts of you that may feel ready to unfurl and stretch, ever-so-gently, toward the light. And we’ll honor and tend to what is still resting and taking shape beneath the surface.   

This workshop combines deeply nourishing yoga poses—all very welcoming to beginners—and carefully chosen sacred scents offered through breathing practices and gentle massage. Together, they will help ease your body and your nervous system into this season of rebirth.
